Pastor Michael was preaching in Sri Lanka, as the only representative from the UK, at Impetus 86 (a conference for developing countries, with 63 nations and 800 delegates]. He was asked to preach on the theme “Into the Presence”.
After he preached, the other guest preachers and delegates invited him to preach at their churches in their respective countries. He graciously declined their offers because his wife was too ill, suffering with a rare muscular disease. But that same year he started a house group in his home in North Wembley, and at the first meeting 6 people turned up – each from a different nationality.
And so our diverse and unique mix of nationalities has developed over the years at HICC. We are now a flourishing multinational church of over 40 nations. God sent the nations to Michael, because he couldn’t go to them.
In 2015, Michael passed the baton on to long-time visiting preacher and kindred spirit, Pastor Paul James, who is continuing the vision ‘equipping the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ’
