At HICC we have a strong vision for supporting mission both at home in the UK and abroad. Part of HICC’s 3-fold vision is to ‘witness unto Christ’ and we see mission as a fundamental part of fulfilling this. Christ’s commission to ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature’ in Mark 16 is central to the call and cause of the church and critical to the outworking of Jesus’ command to ‘love our neighbour as we love ourselves’.
South Asia
Mr A (name anonymous for security reasons) He travelled to South Asia in 2007 to begin work in typesetting (formatting text for printing) parts of the Bible to help in literacy in many of the local languages. He is currently helping with a New Testament translation. He is also engaging in cross cultural relationships and witness through his role in overseas mission. His qualifications as a PhD in computer programming are vital skills in this critical work.
Other Areas
In addition to the above HICC has been involved in mission support in India for many years. We support work among children in India. A school for underprivileged children and fees for children of christian workers in remote villages. These are meeting real needs in difficult situations. Adam and Shei-Lin Simmonds work with ‘The Navigators’ in Leicester www.navigators.co.uk supporting discipleship with students and graduates in Leicester and Demonfort University with strong links to Chinese students. Various fundraising events for good causes in the UK such as St.Lukes Hospice have been an important witness to the Harrow community.
